Dental x-rays (Radiographs)
At Bentleigh Dental on McKinnon we utilise digital intra-oral radiography. Digital radiography can reduce radiation exposure by as much as 80% compared to conventional radiography. We also protect all our patients by using lead thyroid and body aprons whilst undertaking x-ray exposures.
Do I have to have dental x-rays every time I go to the dentist?
No, is the short answer!
However, we do recommend that most people have a set of back teeth (bite wing) radiographs every two to three years. These allow us to check between your back teeth and underneath fillings, where an intra oral examination cannot always visualise. Otherwise, our recommendation on x-rays is dependent on each individual patient.
