Dr Andrew Hawkins B.D.Sc.(Melb)
Andrew graduated from the University of Melbourne in 1992 and has been a principal of the practice since 1998.
He is experienced in all aspects of general and cosmetic dentistry and enjoys challenging work such as root canal treatment and restoring implants. Andrew enjoys treating people of all ages and has a special talent for relaxing children.
Away from work Andrew enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He is an avid Swans supporter and is a life member of Burwood Cricket Club.
Dr Asha McIlwaine B.D.Sc.(Melb)
Asha finds it very satisfying to help people overcome their dental fears and become regular dental attendees. She enjoys providing all aspects of general dental treatment, to every age group. She has often said that the most enjoyable aspect of her job is the relationship she builds with her patients.
Asha has three young children and divides her time between home and work. Outside of work she enjoys regular gym training, reading, cooking and spending time with her family.
Dr Patrick Wong B.D.Sc.(Melb)
Patrick completed his Bachelor of Dental Science at the University of Melbourne in 2009. He joined the team at Bentleigh Dental on McKinnon in early 2011. Prior to this, he worked in a community dental health setting, in rural and remote Victoria. Patrick is known for his gentle and kind chair-side manner. He enjoys building rapport with his patients and will ensure that every visit is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible! He always involves his patients in their treatment, discussing all aspects so that a suitable treatment plan can be devised.
In addition to providing excellent quality general family dentistry, Patrick is committed to learning advanced dental treatments. He has a keen interest in endodontics (root canal treatment), cosmetic and implant dentistry. He has attended numerous continuing education courses.
Outside of work Patrick enjoys spending time with his family, snowboarding and is an avid Hawthorn supporter.
Ms Heidi Lui (Hygienist)Heidi has worked in the dental field for many years. She completed her hygiene training in Adelaide in 2009. Prior to this, she had 14 years experience in China.
Heidi joined the BDOM team in January 2014. She finds hygiene to be a very rewarding career. She is passionate about providing gentle and thorough treatment for all her patients.
In her spare time, Heidi enjoys hiking, cooking, going to the gym and watching movies with her family.
Heidi is fluent in both English and Mandarin.
Ms Tara MacKenzie – Dental Hygienist / Dental Therapist
Tara graduated from Melbourne University as a Dental Hygienist / Dental Therapist in 2006 (as the Dux of her class). She then went on to complete her studies in Dental Hygiene in 2007. Tara believes that the dental experience should be comfortable for all, and will always make the effort to listen and understand the needs of every patient.
Tara’s dental knowledge and experience is further enhanced by the six years she spent working as a chairside dental assistant. Outside of work Tara’s time is occupied by caring and raising her family, and participating in amateur theatre.
Dr Jane Bell (BHSc MDent (Ltb))
Jane completed her dental training at La Trobe University in Bendigo in 2014. Since graduating Jane has worked in private and community dental settings, in both metropolitan and rural areas.
Jane has an approachable and gentle manner. She takes pleasure in treating and interacting with patients of all ages. Jane believes in a preventative and holistic approach to dentistry. She takes time to listen to her patients and works together with them to achieve the best individual dental outcome.
Outside of work, Jane enjoys snow skiing, watching Geelong play, socialising with friends and trips back to the family farm in South Australia.
Ms Shellie Morris – Oral Health Therapist
Shellie graduated from The University of Melbourne as an Oral Health Therapist in 2007. Prior to this, she spent many years as a Dental Assistant, giving her over 20 years experience in the dental industry. A fact that surprises even her!
Shellie loves looking after patients and has a very caring and gentle approach to her work. She has a specific interest in how poor oral health can impact on a person’s overall health and well being.
In her final year at The University of Melbourne, Shellie was awarded the Dean’s Honours List, the Dental Health Services Victorian Public Health Prize and the Victorian Dental Therapist Association Graduate Prize.
Outside of work, Shellie is happily kept busy with her 3 young sons and enjoys water skiing and cross-stitch tapestry.
